Fast Brothers is a third generation family owned business that has been in operation for over 70 years. The company was started in the 1940's by two brothers who specialized in bush clearing for farm land in Southeastern Manitoba. As Fast Brothers grew they worked on the original Red River Floodway project, and the construction of the Trans Canada Highway east of Winnipeg.
Today, Fast Brothers is still involved in the agricultural sector and does occasional bush clearing work as well as numerous barn preparation, lagoon construction, fire retention pond and field drainage projects. They have also done many flood protection projects for farms as well as larger dykes for entire communities. In recent years they completed a flood protection system for the town of Moosehorn including a ring dyke complete with retention ponds. Fast Brothers also completed two contracts for the town of Melita, including a wastewater lagoon expansion and the construction of a submerged attached growth reactor (SAGR) system.
Fast Brothers has also been involved in many residential and commercial developments in Southern Manitoba especially in the RM of Hanover, leading the way for Hanover to become the fastest growing RM in Manitoba. These projects have included sewer and water installation, excavation, road and surface works.
Fast Brothers has invested heavily into automatic grading, GPS technology, and also has in house survey and design capabilities. This has allowed them to do more efficient work and provide better value to their customers.
Fast Brothers also owns and operates its own quarry, and has extensive experience in pit development, gravel extraction, crushing, screening and aggregate sales. In recent years, their fleet of gravel trucks have been employed by several local Municipalities for their road maintenance programs. In the past 10 years our gravel sales have grown to the point where over fifty percent of the product leaving our quarry is sold to other customers besides our own projects.
A portable concrete plant was added in 2019 and Fast Brothers has been supplying concrete for the curbs, drain channels, streets and sidewalks in their own projects. Fast Brothers has also set up for large remote pours like barn pads and concrete highway construction.
During the winter months, the town of Blumenort and many other local businesses and service providers including Walmart, Granny's and the Steinbach Hospital have benefited from Fast Brother's timely snow clearing services over the years.
